Castle Colditz is the ninth mission in Commandos 2: Men of Courage. It is set in Colditz, Germany. The main goal is to take three parts of a secret plan.
Introduction[]
In a small town in eastern Germany, on the top of a hill, surrounded by the river Mulde, rises the most impregnable fortress of the Third Reich, Colditz Castle. Now converted into a prison, housing as well as some high ranking military personnel, those allied prisoners who have tried escaping from other camps.
Colditz is considered by the Germans as the "sonderlager", a maximum security prison. Colditz is the pride of the German peninteriary system, reputedly "escape-proof". For the allied prisoners the only way to exit Colditz is death.
Trivia[]
- Castle Colditz was Oflag IV-C (Offizierslager) during WW2, its inclusion in the game is influenced by the film The Colditz Story.
- The floor plan of the castle itself is quite accurate but the castle does not lie in a bend of the river Mulde.
- This is the most intricate complex of interiors in any Commandos or Commandos-like game. It is admirable how big it is and how each room has a purpose.
- The Thief "was born for this" mission. He can climb the outer and inner walls and enter many windows, he can also sneak through a substantial part of rooms.
- Allied prisoners walk away immediately if they get a German uniform in the inventory. Although, they are tied behind the back despite not being tied before, and it is not suspicious to anyone.
