Colonel Montague Smith is a high-ranking Allied officer and superordinate of the Commandos team. He appears in all instalments, briefing and giving tactical advices or speaking via radio. He is just heard, never seen. He also wrote evaluation reports for the Commando strike force unit members.

- His voice actor is different from Commandos 3: Destination Berlin on. Both voices have a British accent.
- He was supposed to be finally seen in a cutscene in Commandos 3 but it was deleted (the cutscene down below).
- It seems the briefings of the third game were originally intended to be narrated in such cutscenes with projection and paper models on a table.
- Although he is said to be a colonel in game, he is refered to as General in the deleted cutscene. He is presented as a US officer there, still with a British accent though.
- In the evaluation reports, he is subscribed as Brigadier W. Montague-Smith. The rank of Brigadier implies British nationality.
