I'll play more than to confirm Trapped Dead then but the store page says it's inspired. (The Commandos 3 trailer was pretty action-packed too despite the fact just shooting everything was less practical than 2.) The game at least seems so far to heavily encourage stealth, the game has a stamina system where you can't run or melee after it runs out. (and at least with the one character in the tutorial I played, they nearly completely tire themselves out after taking out a single zombie so combat seems decently discouraged and I know ammo is limited.) - I see it now: "in the tradition of classics such as Commandos and Desperados". Still, it seems too far from Commandos gameplay, judging by YouTube videos. It looks like the players must usually do something which alerts and attracts the group of zombies in the room and they eliminate them frontally one by one, similar to any zombie game. Titles can be inspired by certain games but belong to a different genre in the end.
- I'm careful with expanding the table and I'm quite prone to gatekeeping. Lists on the internet often have weird comparisons, presenting even ordinary RTTs. I admit that not all points are fulfilled here every time. For example, enemies in Chicago 1930 don't have visible field of view. They have to be engaged all at once at some places, often by pointing a gun at them and forcing them to surrender. It isn't possible otherwise and you have to shoot them when they take out their guns instead. Small isolated fights are part of strategy in Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood, especially with Little John.
- I disqualify turn-based games, like often mentioned Invisible, Inc., and games with fireteams. There are games with one character that are played more like Splinter Cell or Metal Gear Solid, just watched from above. Or games that are more into puzzles and guards are a smaller part of them. I'm not sure about The Stone of Madness yet, which also appears in lists. Písač (talk) 22:13, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
